He was appointed to the Board of TWPH and elected as Chairman on 1 November
2000. Following the Conditional Mandatory Take-Over Offer by SPI (a
wholly owned subsidiary of NTIH), he relinquished the position as Chairman
and remained as an independent, non-executive director of TWPH with
effect from 20 November 2006. He also serves as a member of the Audit,
Nomination, Remuneration and Executive Share Option Scheme (“ESOS”)
Committees. He attended eight of the nine board meetings held in the
financial year. He has more than 37 years of military service experience,
having been commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1965 following a
two-year cadet training to the rank of Lieutenant General in the appointment
of the Deputy Chief of the Malaysian Army until his retirement on 14
March 2001. In between, he served as a Regimental Officer, Staff Officer,
Instructor, Commanding Officer, Director of Artillery, Army Planner,
Brigade, Divisions and Army Field Commander. He holds a Bachelor of
Social Science degree with Honours from the Science University of Malaysia
and a Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the National
University of Malaysia. Lt Jen (B) Datuk Abdul Aziz bin Hassan presently
sits on the board of Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad, Nam Fatt Corporation
Berhad and a few other non-listed companies. He has no conflict of interest
with the Group and has no family relationship with any director and/or
major shareholder of the TWP Group.
